Lithuania has 121 days of rain per year. So we had been already prepared from the outset of this journey to experience at least one of them during our stay in Vilnius. But actually the humidity and the music of the raindrops gave the city with a very special atmosphere. LithuRAINia (09:00-15:00 h )We had arranged for a photo shooting today with maestro Jonathan Darlington, hoping the sun wouldn’t shine to strongly. This wish was catered to only too well: As Jonathan remarked, it rained “cats and dogs”. But equipped with two large umbrellas and some plastic bags, we set out on a trip that took us to some of the most beautiful spots of Vilnius and yielded a fair number of great pictures.I had been looking for suitable locations all morning. Normally, you’ll need the help of locals and at least two day’s time for such a task. We were looking for a mix of old and new, classicism and modernism … a tension between tradition and vision. Vilnius turned out to be just the place for that. We ended up trying 5 different shooting locations in two hours, each time shooting outstanding pictures, which showed very different facets of the great conductor’s personality. After that, our photographer Christoph Müller-Girod was happily beaming from out of his rain jacket and even forgot to notice a couple of rain drops grazing his beloved reflex camera.A special „thank you!“ to Jonathan for his patience and enthusiasm!
